Savory Meatballs

Ingredients
- 1 lb ground lean beef
- 0.5 lb ground lean pork
- 1/2 lb ground veal
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 3/4 cup onion, minced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons parsley, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary, crumbled
- 1 egg
- salt and pepper (to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon sage
- 2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil (For sauce.)
- 1 1/2 tablespoons onion, minced (For sauce.)
- 2 cups tomato sauce (For sauce.)
- 1 cup beef broth (For sauce.)
- 1 tablespoon sugar (For sauce.)
- salt and pepper (to taste)
Steps
- Combine all ingredients for the meatballs, and mix well. Then shape the meat mixture into small balls
- For the sauce, heat oil in a heavy casserole, saute onion until light golden, add tomato sauce, broth, sugar, salt and peper and bring to a simmer. Add the meatballs, cover and cook gently for about 45 minutes.
